Renewable Energy Investment 


In October 2020, the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) declared a moratorium on endorsements for greenfield coal power plants. This decision was driven by the need to shift towards a more flexible power supply mix. 


R.A. 11285 (Energy Efficiency & Conservation Act): Enacted in 2019, this legislation institutionalizes energy efficiency and conservation as a national priority. Its objectives include securing energy supply stability, cushioning the impact of imported fuel prices, and protecting the environment. 


The solar energy market in the Philippines is experiencing significant growth. By the end of this year, the country is expected to install around 1700 Megawatts of solar capacity, with projections to reach 5229.62 Megawatts in the next five years12. This reflects a robust annual growth rate of 25.2%. 


The Philippines is making impressive strides toward cleaner energy sources, with policies supporting renewables and a growing investment landscape.
